About the item:
From DC Special Series #8 (1978) presentation of The Brave and the Bold Special, this great Bronze Age page features Batman, Deadman, and two of Easy Co's finest, Sgt. Rock and Bulldozer. Not shown, but appearing in the story, is Sherlock Holmes (the "fourth fabulous co-star" noted on the issue cover). Story by Bob Haney, pencils by Ric Estrada, and inks by Dick Giordano (mini bios below). DC Special Series comprised one-shots and special issues published by DC from 1977 to 1981. Each featured a different character and the format varied; Dollar Comics, 48 page giants, digests, and treasury editions. This particular issue was a 48-page giant (with a stunning Jim Aparo cover).
The page measures approximately 10 1/2 by 16 inches, is in excellent condition, and will be shipped with the utmost care. Both the front and reverse side of the page are shown in the scans. Also shown, for reference only, is the cover to the issue and the colorized page from inside the comic. But please note- the listing is for the original art only. The comic is not included.
Brief creator bios:
Bob Haney co-created the Teen Titans as well as characters such as Metamorpho, Eclipso, Cain, and the Super-Sons. Ric Estrada co-created Lady Shiva and Power Girl and illustrated Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Wonder Girl, among others. Dick Giordano is perhaps best known for his work on Batman, but he also illustrated Wonder Woman, Superman, and great deal more for DC. He ultimately became the company vice president and was the editorial force behind both The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen.
