The Charcoal Filter is an OEM replacement part for LG microwaves.

The charcoal filter works to remove undesirable cooking odors, steam, and grease vapors from the air circulated inside the microwave. It traps airborne particles and deodorizes airflow using an advanced charcoal formulation.

Causes of a bad charcoal filter can include normal saturation over 6-12 months of regular use. Prolonged high-heat cooking and grilling can also cause premature clogging.

Symptoms of a bad filter include:

• strong lingering cooking smells that linger in the microwave interior and escape into the kitchen.
• Food may take on secondary odors from previous heating sessions.
