Springbok skins are suitable for decoration or manufacturing. The white dorsal hairs on the back are longer but lay flat when the skin is not folded. If you fold the skin the dorsal hairs will stand up showing what looks like a mohawk. This feature is really only found on the springbok which makes it very unique and desirable for making handbags, pillows or wallets.
The L Springbok is actually our smallest size. Its size is about 35X20 inches. Sizes can vary a bit from skin to skin so expect subtle variations. As the animal grows older and bigger, the skins get longer but only marginally wider. The biggest size category we carry is only about 4" wider than our smallest size. After all, it is a small gazelle, not a large animal by any means.
Not all skins will have a tail and the length of the mohawk varies a bit from hide to hide. However, all skins have the mohawk.
These are 100% natural. Differences in the structure are due to leather’s natural finish and should be regarded as a quality and authentic feature.
GRADE A
Our grade A skins might present small imperfections but to a minimal. Skins may or may not come with the little tails. All skins are very well tanned and soft.
GRADE B
Our B grade hides have 2 to 4 visible little blesmishes or bald spots. For that reason they are sold at a steep discount :-) Even B grade hides are well tanned and soft.
