The rocker lever is a component of the engine valve train that is responsible for transmitting the motion of the camshaft to the valve stem. It is a lever that pivots on a shaft and is actuated by the camshaft lobes. The rocker lever pushes on the pushrod, which in turn actuates the valve. The Cummins® part number 4096491 refers to a specific rocker lever used in their engines.
