This is a lovely handmade pillowcase or pillow sham from the Victorian or Edwardian era.
Snowy white cotton (or perhaps fine white linen?)
Intricate drawn thread borders.
White on white embroidery.
Cutwork, with tatted lace insets.
I love the little embroidered arrowheads that are at the ends of the shorter drawn thread details.
Such a lovely piece that also highlights several handwork techniques done by a skilled needlewoman in a bygone era.
Envelope style with back closure, pearl buttons, hand stitched buttonholes.
Measures 32 x 23.5
Freshly hand laundered in linen wash, and neatly pressed.
In exceptionally lovely condition - no damage, no stains or discoloration, no holes - very nice!
