About the item:
Little Orphan Annie debuted on August 5, 1924 in the New York Daily News. The strip would ultimately spawn a radio show, 1932 and 1938 film adaptations, a Broadway musical in 1977 (which itself was later adapted into film version three separate times - in 1982, 1999, and again in 2014). But, after eighty-six years of publication, an era come to an end when the strip itself was cancelled. Its final installment appeared on June 13, 2010. Annie isn’t completely gone, however. She and her supporting cast of characters occasionally make guest appearances in another longstanding comic strip, Dick Tracy. Will she one day return? Perhaps, but “this is where we leave our Annie. For Now—"
This strip, written by Jay Maeder (who updated Annie for modern audiences after he took over the series in June of 2000 and who would stay with it until its ultimate cancellation) and illustrated by Andrew Pepoy is from November 5, 2000. From very early in Maeder and Pepoy's run (their first year), this particular strip includes Annie herself along with Sandy and Amelia Santiago (created by Maeder and Pepoy for the new, updated strip) and other characters. It measures approximately 15 3/4 by 19 1/2 inches (it is made up of two roughly 9 3/4 by 15 3/4 inch pages taped together on their backside), is in excellent condition and will be shipped with the utmost care. Please note- this is an actual, original piece of art illustrated by hand by Pepoy and also signed by Pepoy. It is not a copy, print or pre-printed image. It is a one-of-a-kind original!
