Beautiful antique jasperware cracker jar or biscuit barrel is done in a draped grapevine or grape and leaf design. This medium blue jar has a silver plated top frame and lid, which also have a drape pattern. The jar base is approx. 5 3/8" tall, (it measures 6 1/2" to the top of the lid finial, and 8 1/2" with the handle extended), and it is 5 5/8" wide at the bottom. Although it could be easily mistaken for Wedgwood, I'm not certain that it is, as the jar is not signed. There is a small firing separation on the inside of the jar, as shown---a minor manufacturing imperfection. Parts of the silver have plating wear, most noticeably the lid finial and handle. The jar displays beautifully, and is in otherwise very good antique condition.
