Consorcio Construtor Rio-Niteroi
THE Rio-Niterói Bridge (officially Presidente Costa e Silva Bridge) is a structure located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. He crosses the Guanabara Bay connecting the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi
Description
The bridge is an integral part of the federal highway BR-101 who travels the eastern coast of the country between the states of Rio Grande di Norte and Rio Grande do sul .
It is 13.3 km long, of which 8.8 km are on the waters of the bay. With 27 m in width, its apron supports a 2 x 4 lane road.
This bridge is a beam bridge.
The architect is Mario Andreazza.
The technical assistance for this huge project was provided by the French company: "Campenon Bernard". (Specialized in the production of major works)
These two original plans are unique. They are in excellent condition and represent, in its " together” and in “cross sections” construction of the bridge launching beam:
(The launching beam is a technology invented by Eugène Freyssinet in order to be able to build bridges without arches or supports between the piers. The beam rests on two piles and, using an overhead crane, brings the voussoirs which are then fixed and joined together. Once the span between two piers is completed, the beam is installed on the next two piers, and so on.)
