#19306 SAGUARO CACTUS (Carnegiea gigantea
More than any other life form, saguaros are a symbol of the Sonoran Desert. Rising as high as fifty feet, and weighing up to seven tons, they create a magnificent and unforgettable spectacle for vis-itors. Although a healthy specimen can live as long as two hundred years, saguaros are a relatively fragile plant, and can be easily damaged or destroyed by frost, hungry rodents, grazing cat-tle, and possibly pollution.
