by Agnes Giberne
London: The Religious Tract Society, [circa 1873].
First edition.
Illustrated with four beautiful chromolithographs in strikingly rich colors by J.M. Kronheim & Co., and with monochrome engraved scenes in the text.
The third book featuring young Willie and Lucy, finds the children traveling in an adventure to exciting and scenic Switzerland.
A lovely, early illustrated binding.
Rubbing to shelf-edges and with some wear at the corner tips, two small, mild, see-through cream stains to the lower front cover, inner hinges cracked--still holding sturdily, a few tiny, minor internal spots, else very good in russet-brown linen with gilt titles above a full front cover scene illustration embossed in black and enhanced with three portions of the scene in gilt: a double-deck horse-drawn coach, tourists in a rowboat, and a sailboat; decorative blind embossing to the rear cover, and gilt stamped titles to the spine, all page edges gilt.
Square octavo; 92 pages; plus color plates; plus 4 pages of ads to the rear.
