A cactus or spirit quartz is a quartz crystal that is encrusted by a second generation of smaller crystals grown on its prism faces. These crystals were first discovered in 1986 in the Boekenhouthoek, North of Pretoria in the Gauteng province of South Africa..  It occurs as quartz, citrine and amethyst, and comes in a wide range of colors, including purple amethyst, violet amethyst, smoky, milky clear and golden citrine.  The citrine is not true citrine, rather a crystal with goethite infused and coating the quartz producing the citrine color.

• Crystals are priced by quality, color and size. 
• Purple amethyst is more highly prized and will cost more for a smaller lesser quality crystal.  Lavender is the most common color and where you will find the best quality/value for price
•  Crystals change colors with changes in type angle and intensity of light. Color may also vary between monitors. Pictures were taken in bright natural light.  We do our best to give you many views so you can judge the quality of the given crystals. If you have questions please ask before bidding or buying.
• Many of the crystals have special color properties: Many have phantoms, not just the ones we've indicated.  Some have ?floating? purple tips.  The placement of darker purple against purple or white crystals appears to change as the crystal is turned.  Many are a mixture of citrine and amethyst. The ones called "Golden Healers" or "Sunshine" have a rainbow effect on crystal faces.
