Vintage Primitive Lipstick Tube Column Aluminum Salt Pepper Shakers

In good shape for age. Shows signs of age and usage. Measures 2" tall and 7/8" wide. Unsure how to open, but I think the bottom unscrews. I was unable to unscrew them. Please see photos.
