Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, is a town cultivated by 400 years of tradition and home to advanced casting techniques.
Since its founding in 1950 as Orii Coloring Works, Momentum Factory Orii has inherited the traditional techniques of the area and has been involved in coloring a variety of castings, from Buddhist statues and temple bells to tea utensils and art and craft items.
"Coloring" does not mean painting.
It is a traditional technique that utilizes the corrosive properties of copper and brass and controls chemicals and flames to create vivid colors.
We have developed traditional coloring techniques that could only be achieved with castings,
and have succeeded in coloring thin copper plates less than 1 mm thick.
We are committed to the true colors that can be extracted from copper and brass,
