Caribbean Cocktail is a panoramic tour of the Caribbean, people and places, written by Kjeld Helweg-Larsen (1907-1971) and his wife Everild Young (1909-1992). It covers the entire region, starting in the Bahamas and travelling south through the islands to Venezuela and Colombia.

Advertised as ‘an adventure in time as well as in space’, this book is crammed with stories of treasure and pirates, colonial history and discovery, lost tribes, voodoo, ancient cities and modern life.

Young and Helweg-Larsen, who together wrote several books on the Caribbean, also describe how they bought and restored a house called ‘Buccaneer Hill’ on Eleuthera.
