DISA AURATA

Origin: South Africa

Temperatures: Cold to intermediate growing small size terrestrial orchid species

Watering & fertilizing: Regular watering and fertilizing year-round.

Size:  Potted BS plants, you’ll receive similar size plant as pictured.

General care: Disa orchids are among the most fascination terrestrial orchid species, relatively small size plants regarding leaf size produce very long flower spikes with huge blooms that are stunning in shape and color. These are definitely challenging orchids to grow, will prefer cold conditions, can tolerate temps down to 30F (must be protected from freeze), and day temps under 80F. They need to be constantly moist and can never dry out – usually growers use saucers or containers with water under the pots. This works but in nature they are never sitting in stagnant water so some growers set up table with water running constantly around the pots using aquarium pumps as well. Only good quality water and diluted fertilizer. Can be grown potted. Great plant for windowsill growing, greenhouses and outdoors in proper zones.
