CHAU3175   A rare official 1950s hand signed letter from Norwegian book author Rut Brandt (wife of German Chancellor Willy Brandt) written and sent to Brigadier Leslie Frederick Ethelbert Wieler at the Tower Of London dated 20th May 1959 and personally autographed by Rut Brandt where her signature rests perfectly and bar just light places and folded where posted is great condition.  Please see Brigadier Leslie Frederick Ethelbert Wieler history below.  On 1st July 1955 he became Resident Governor of the Tower of London.  The hand signed letter from Rut Brandt to the Brigadier comes with its original envelope (see scan which I have placed above the letter) and on the reverse (which is not shown) the envelope has her home address in prestigious fonts.

Rut Brandt (10 January 1920 28 July 2006) was a Norwegian-born German writer and the wife of the German Chancellor Willy Brandt between 1948 and 1980, including most of his political career as Governing Mayor of Berlin (19571966) and German chancellor (1969 1974). Rut Brandt became highly popular in Germany and a noted public figure in her role as First Lady of Berlin and the chancellor's spouse. Rut Brandt died on 28 July 2006 in Berlin, aged 86, from undisclosed causes.
