SMATZ017 This is a large 9" x 7" vintage rare 1970s TV Times press photo for this scene from the cult ITV drama General Hospital and was the master used by the TV Times to promote and advertise the episode featured from that weeks magazine. This forms part of a large collection of TV Times original magazine press photos from around 50 years ago won under hammer, so whilst impossible to scan all the reverses, the other side contains the original TV Times frank for full authenticity, and additional staff notes of the actor and actress. It has had the TV Times staff make amendments as it was the master being used that week for publication. Upper top left corner place to allow otherwise mostly great condition. Own an original piece of 1970s ATV television history.
General Hospital was a British daytime soap opera produced by ATV that ran on ITV from 1972 to 1979 following the success of one of British television's first major soap operas, Emergency Ward 10. Set in a fictional Midlands town, the series followed the romantic and professional lives of its doctors and nurses. While the location and the characters names had been changed, in most other respects General Hospital was almost identical to Emergency Ward 10.In 1975, after 270 twice-weekly episodes, General Hospital was given a prime time slot on Friday evening. The move saw the episode lengths double from 30 to 60 minutes, with each episode being more self-contained containing great actors and actresses of the era, and the series continued to run until 1979.
