LM3914:

The LM3914N-1 is an LED Display driver that can drive up to 100 LEDs in Dot Mode or Bar Mode.  The current that flows through the LEDs is regulated and programmable, thus, resistors do not need to be implemented.  With the elimination of resistors, the whole IC can be operated with less than 3V.


The LM3914 (lm3914n-1 no Pb) can be used for variety of application.  Some but not limited to, includes:

•    0 volts to 5 volts bargraph meter.
•    Cascading more than one LM3914 in dot mode.
•    Zero centered meter for 20 segment bargraph (or 20 LED equivalent).
•    Exclamation point display.
•    Indicator and alarm, switching display from dot mode to bargraph mode.
•    Bar display with alarm flasher.
•    And many more applications that can be found on the web for the electronics' enthusiast, hobbyist, or hard-core engineer.
