Volume 3 of WALT DISNEY'S LEGACY COLLECTION features CREATURES OF THE WILD -- a collection of THREE previously released full-length films in the Disney "TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURE" series, which were originally released in movie theaters, and were subsequently shown occasionally on the 1950s television program DISNEYLAND; plus a previously released Disney short subject, which may have been subsequently shown on the television program DISNEYLAND; plus other NEW short documentary programs.
The first documentary film is THE AFRICAN LION, which was originally released in 1955, winning a 1956 Silver Bear Award for Best Documentary at the 6th Berlin Film Festival. The film explores the daily life of the lions of Africa, and how they fit within the natural African ecosystem. Running time is 75 minutes.
The second film is JUNGLE CAT, originally released in 1960, and follows the life of a female jaguar in Brazil. It was the last of the "TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURE" films to be released, with a running time is 69 minutes.
The third film in the set is BEAR COUNTRY, originally released in 1953, and winner of the 1954 Academy Award for Best Short Subject / Two-Reel. The documentary is centered upon the black bears inside Yellowstone National Park, and the running time is 33 minutes.
Plus the previously released documentary OLYMPIC ELK, from 1952, which portrays the wilderness life of the Olympic elk which are found in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Running time is 27 minutes.
This box set also includes several other previously unreleased full color documentaries, as well as commentaries and other features.
