Wall of Funk CD Hot Insights Sealed Joe Marsden Lennon Baker Heavy Metal
This EP was recorded, mixed, and mastered by lead vocalist and guitarist Joe Marsden as his final project before he graduated from Madison Media Institute. Joe, and the bassist, Lennon Baker, had been playing for several years together in a few different bands and had recently been very influenced by metal, Nu Metal and Prog/Thrash Metal in particular. However with their back ground in Classical music and love for a good groove, they started throwing around what they agreed on were some funky metal riffs. After recently discovering the band Primus, the two knew they should be combining the funky metal they were playing with the new weird progressive grooves from their latest and greatest key influence. In stepped the need for Joe to have something to record for a final project, and it was fairly obvious that their new musical discoveries had to be recorded! The only problem is that the duo was lacking a drummer. So, Joe stepped up, having played drums in the high school pep band, he wrote drum parts to the 5 tracks on the EP and hammered away practicing them until he was good enough to record. The EP actually helped them find a permanent drummer, as their good friend Cal Lamore had heard the EP and was eager to join Lennon and Joe as a funk metal trio.... and viola! Wall of Funk was born. You may be wondering about the name, well it's exactly what it describes, as well as much more, please refer to our definition below: Wall of Funk - |wol uv fungk| - n.
