The Hernis Scan System 400 Compact Matrix is actually a closed-circuit television (CCTV) control system. 

It's designed for use in medium-sized CCTV systems, often on ships, oil rigs, and other industrial environments.
It uses analog video signals for transmitting video footage, unlike modern digital CCTV systems.
The system is modular, meaning you can add additional components like monitors or keyboards as needed.
