Antique painted Native American basket with lid. The basket was purchased near Hogansburg, New York and is most likely Mohawk due to the area we purchased it in, although I have seen similar ones attributed to the Mic Mac tribe or the Passamaquoddy in Maine. "St. Regis Mohawk Reservation is a Mohawk Indian reservation of the federally recognized tribe the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, located in Franklin County, New York, United States. It is also known by its Mohawk name, Akwesasne." The basket is in very good condition for the age and fragility, but does have a few little flaws, as is expected. It measures approximately 16" wide by about 11" tall. The basket is somewhat dusty having been stored in an attic for about 30 years.
