A drug that alters perceptions during trauma and stress, is being advertised as a cure for socio-political tensions. Several couples volunteer for human trials but end up with more than they bargained for. Altered Perception isn't really "science fiction" - except in terms of the mind-altering drug being tested on hapless subjects - it's more of a drama about the dynamics of the three couples who are taking part in a clinical trial. They each have their own reasons for wanting to such chances with their health and sanity and as these come to light, we watch them crumble. The movie is made though using perception - security cameras and confessionals ala Big Brother, researchers' POV, and then traditional filmmaking techniques. I thought the drama was quite absorbing. Especially the couple played by Jon Huertas (This is Us) and Jennifer Blanc (Dark Angel). Not only did they have the best story, but they are both really good actors. If you're intrigued by stories like the ones in Limitless, or The Atticus Institute, then this is an indie gem that doesn't disappoint.
