Cortisol Test
Cortisol is a vital hormone produced by the adrenal glands and plays a central role in the body's metabolism. It belongs to the group of glucocorticoids and is often referred to as the "stress hormone" because its levels rise in response to stressful situations. In the body, cortisol regulates various physiological processes. Although cortisol plays an important role in adapting to stress, chronically increased production of the hormone can have negative effects on health, including impairments to the immune system, sleep and memory.
The cerascreen Cortisol Test is a sampling and mail-in test kit that allows you to determine the concentration of the stress hormone cortisol in your saliva. Seven samples are taken to observe the concentration over the course of the day.
Sampling is easy and can be done conveniently from home. This saves you the waiting time that would normally be incurred when visiting a doctor. You will receive the result with specific recommendations for action within a few days of receiving the sample.
