Vintage hand hammered aluminum ash tray from the venerable Wendell August Forge of Pennsylvania featuring The Equitable's Athena logo, circa late mid century. Most likely a promotional item from the days when everyone smoked, life insurance or not, and probably meant to be displayed on some Mad Man's desk as a sign of class and status. Excellent condition. About 6" square and just so slightly raised at the edges and indented at the corners for a streamline appearance. A busty Athena is pictured with her shield open to her left and her spear concealed. She is surrounded by olive leaves.
