Initiated in the world of oriental brushwork at the tender age of four by her grandfather, Cho Chun-yung (1882-1965), for many years Yi-yu remained under the tutelage of that master calligrapher whose works are among the treasured models in many museums of Asian art throughout the world. The mastery of the secret of painting (writing) brush to create an infinite variety of forms and to embody life's movements and vigor has stayed with her, through her cultivation in architectural designs - the structure of forms large and small, massive as well as intricate - and through her cultivation in art history, east and west , which acquainted her with thoughts and visions of the worlds best artists. She studied these subjects at the University of Illionis, San Diego State University, the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of San Francisco.
