She also played Elaine Zacharides in William Castle's 13 Ghosts (1960) and Morticia's mother, Mrs. Frump, on T.V.'s "The Addams Family" (1965-1966). A former schoolteacher, she worked as a character actress in films for seven years before she was offered the role that defined her public image.
