Vintage HAR brooch, circa 1950's. Stylized Art Deco floral design features a meticulous pave swirl of tiny faux pearls encrusted in a gold tone brass alloy body. This is one of HAR's more subtle designs as they were better known for their incredible character enameling work. It does match with a number of other pieces of the era, so was probably part of a set, or line, of evening wear jewels. HAR (Hargo Creations ) was a fairly short lived, but prolific, jewelry manufacturer based in New York founded by Joseph Heibronner and Edith Levitt in 1955. Heibronner was born in 1893 in Munich, Germany, became a U.S. citizen in 1948, and married Edith Levitt in 1952. The “HAR” mark was used beginning in 1955 to 1957, or so. Note that there are three "pearls" missing, though in the overall effect it is hard to notice. See the photos.
