Description

 (Circa 1870) The front board is quite elaborate, with a beveled perimeter of a richly carved wood grain. Within is an rectangle piece of walnut in the quintessential Black Forest, or in actuality, Swiss Brienzerware style, with carved mountain goats.  The rear board of the album is smooth with outside edges carved in wood grain.  The album contains 23 thick card leaves with gold gilted edges containing 36 carte de visitie images, and it is kept closed with a brass clasp. The cloth spine is of light brown morocco.


The images contained in the album displays ethnic persons of Germatic lineage
'folkdrakt including occupationals of rural and village life, many beautifully hand-tinted.
