Description
Rare original photograph showing the Bizy Bee Restaurant in Elida,New Mexico in the late 19th century.
There is an ole’ roughneck Cowboy hanging out of the second story window holding a hammer. While on the street the Butcher, Baker and Candlestick maker appeared transfixed as to what is going on west of them…Or what is headed towards them?
In realty I just wonder how "Bizy" this restaurant truly was? It appears half the town's population is posing for the picture. And the other half are likely in the cemetery from the imported oysters. Early New Mexico images are so rare to find and this eclectic example is a treasure.
The 2000 census listed only 183 people living in Elida, New Mexico. How many were there in the late 19th century?
7 x 10 inches including mount.
