Description
For your consideration I have a 19th century albumen photograph showing a large gathering in St. Francis, Arkansas. There are tents in the background and two men on horses circling the back of the crowd. This photograph came from a former college professor who collected rare images of Arkansas. When I bought this several, several years ago he had retired in central Florida from his last gig as Professor at the University of Southern California. He made mention at the time this was a railroad gala. He knew his for certain according to his words as he bought several images of St. Francis from a friend in the historic archives at the University of Arkansas. It appears everyone in the town and county showed up for this grand event. If you collect early Arkansas images this is a must for your collection. I will be listing more Arkansas images including named daguerreotypes in the near future.
8’ x 10 mount; 5’ ½ x 8 inch actual viewing.
