The 14" Hi-Velocity is a 13" two ply (2x7mil), Black texture coated head.  

The Hi-Velocity series uses a reverse "Power-Thin Dot" for added strength. 
The VEL13BK sounds great in virtually all musical situations including Rock, Country, Blues and Pop or anywhere that you that need a bright, open and articulate head.
