101+DOWNY SUNFLOWER Seed Native Prairie Wildflower Drought Summer Fall Flowers
DOWNY SUNFLOWER. AKA, Hairy or Ashy sunflower. American native wildflower from the plains. Easy to grow from seed. Drought tolerant. These get 3 ft to 5 ft tall. Fine hairs cover the stems and leaves, giving this native wildflower a gray-green color. A classic sunflower that blooms from summer thru fall. Thrives in poor, dry soils with gravel, rock or clay where it will form a dense colony. Birds and squirrels love the seeds. Very easy to grow. 100+ Seeds per order. Thank You!
Some American Native Wildflower seeds need to go through a cold winter to germinate. This plant is one of them. They do this so the seed won’t sprout in fall, only to have the seedling not make it through a cold winter. I have stratified these seeds to simulate a cold winter(stratification) This raises the germination rate considerably. Thanks for looking!!
