This is a summer weight (or hot weather) woodland ripstop BDU jacket in size Small/Regular. It is in used, good condition. The jacket is heavily faded for the vintage camo look. There are some pin holes (pictured) but no major rips or tears.
The hot weather combat uniform was developed out of the original dissatisfaction with the heavyweight twill BDU's. Originally the hot weather uniforms were made of 100% cotton ripstop, but in the early 1990's this was replaced with the 50% cotton, 50% nylon "NYCO". Oddly enough, the decision to forego the 100% cotton design in favor of the cotton nylon blend was based almost entirely on the durability of the uniforms and the cost associated with replacing them.
This is one of the 100% cotton jackets. The cotton uniforms were known for being extremely soft and breathable. The summer weight uniforms were by far the preferred BDU's among field soldiers in both summer and winter.
