In spite of it's weaknesses, the achievements of the German pilots flying the Bf 109 were great. The Bf 109 was changed and improved countless times. and 13,786 were manufactured in 1944, even though the aircraft was obsolete in 1941; inferior to the Mustang P-51, Thunderbolt P-47 and the various Spitfires.
