We are so lucky to have Sparkleberry trees ALL OVER the farm!
At first we thought they were 'Native Crepe Myrtle' Trees from looking at the bark in winter time.
Once the Spring came, we noticed patches of tiny white bell flowers covering the trees.
By fall - we had berries! I mean a whole mess of berries!!
These Sparkleberry trees are beautiful, but the wine is worth growing them for alone.
The wood of the tree is used for Wood Spoons, pen blanks and knife handles.
We hope to offer these soon from Hurricane Michael damaged trees.
Sparkleberry is quite a finicky tree!
It does not transplant or graft well and seeds are usually pretty hard to start.
About 70% will make it to final transplant.
We really appreciate all of our dense Sparkleberry forests.
They seem to grow great when Mother Nature is in control!
