Brass Tsuba of Insects Eating Wood, Japanese Sword Guard. This is a high quality Tsuba from approximately the Edo period. Made of hammered brass it features insects (ants/termites) eating wood. The small holes in the tsuba could possibly be meant for wrist straps, the maker meaning to give the impression of the holes being made by the insects. With lots of gold doting throughout, it is a unsigned but beautiful addition to any sword. Measures 8.5cm W x 9cm H x .5cm D, Weighs 133grams
