Shiva is known as The Destroyer within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity which also includes Brahma and Vishnu. In the Shaivite tradition, Shiva is the Supreme Lord who creates, protects and transforms the universe.

The entire Universe resides in Him, that is the reason Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu, could not find the start and end of Him. Shiva in His Nataraja form is the Cosmic dance of Shiva, where in He dissolves the entire Universe into Him. When Devas and Asuras did Samudra Manthan for Amrit, poison oozed out of the Ocean. No one except for Shiva could drink the Halahal and still survive, and became Neelakanth. Shiva has the Holy river Ganga on His head. Only Shiva has the power to withstand the power of River Ganga. The moon resides in Shiva's hair.
Shiva is Triambaka, the three eyed God. Shiva opened His third eye and destroyed Lord Kamadev (lust). Shiva is the Mahakaal, the God for time. When Shiva's consort Sati Devi Immolates herself, then Shiva pulled one strand of His hair and from that hair emerged the Veerabhadra, and Veerabhadra destroyed the Daksha yagna and killed many people. Veerabhadra is just 1 percent of Shiva's immense power. Shiva created 11 immortal beings called as Rudras, and thus Shiva is referred as Rudra. When King Ravana tried to lift the entire Kailash mountain along with Shiva, and Shiva to destroy Ravana’s arrogance, just pressed His feet and Ravana’s hands got crushed under the Kailash mountain.
