Lot of 5 Photocopies of President Harry S. Truman letters, a holiday card & executive orders from the 1940's. The first letter was written on White House stationary & looks to be a recount from President Truman of a night during WWI when he discharged his weapon while in France. In the letter, it stated he was scolded for shooting out of the Division Sector. Copy measures approx 8" x 10 1/2" & has a piece cut out from the bottom right hand corner. There are handwritten notes & a stamp at the top from the collector. Copy paper is discolored from age & corners have bends. Please see photos.
Second letter is a photocopy of a typed letter from President Harry Truman to former President Herbert Hoover AND a handwritten note to President Hoover from President Truman. The typed thank you letter is dated April 19, 1945 & is on White House stationary, but again, this is just a photocopy & not actual letter. Photocopied letter measures approx 8 1/2" x 11 & in is poor condition as it has discoloration from age & storage. It also has bends to the corners & notes in the margins from the collector. The third piece is a photocopy of a holiday card from President Harry Truman & First Lady, Bess Truman. Again, this is just a photocopy & not actual holiday card. Fourth piece is a 6-page photocopy of 1949 Executive Order 10026 adapting the manual for courts-martial from the US Army for use in the Department of the Air Force. Photocopied pages from a book are stapled together & have discoloration from age & storage, but are free from tears, bends & stains. Pages measure approx 8" x 10 1/2".
Fifth piece is a 1-page photocopy of the 1949 Proclamation 2824 stating that the first day of February be known as National Freedom Day. This is in recognition of the signed amendment to the Constitution outlawing slavery in the United States in 1865 by President Abraham Lincoln. Photocopied page is from a book & has discoloration from age & storage as well as bends to the corners. Pages measure approx 8" x 10 1/2". Please see photos.
