THREE MEALS A DAY (The Great 20th Century Cook Book)      by Maud C. Cooke                                                              (probably) Educational Co., Chicago, reprint, about 1900             Condition:  Fair to Good                                                                                                                                                                    This 576-page cookbook was first published in the 1880s as just THREE MEALS A DAY.  The subtitle was added at the turn of the century.   (The date looks like the 1880s, so probably the book was just given a new exterior.)  This is a comprehensive book, covering virtually everything concerning the preparation of food.  Wear at cover corners, spine ends and some at spine edges and the covers (and to some extent the interior) have scattered staining, but otherwise the exterior still looks quite good (no fading).  On the front hinge, most of the  paper is slit, with some paper loss, but the hinge itself is still holding with little wiggle.  The back hinge is just fine with just a short paper tear next to the top.  However in the text, from pp. 161 through 288, there are several gutter splits and that section of the book is kept from becoming loose by eight strings which are part of the binding.  So no pages are completely loose and the book has no missing pages.  There are just a few page edge tears and the pages are, of course, toned,  but I've noticed no writing or other markings in the book.
