Description:
Perennial lupine... there's no better way to create heaven on earth. With more than 600 types of seeds to choose from here at Southern, if you gave me the choice of one seed to grow, it would be this one. I love them that much. There's just very few sights that are more amazing than a field of them. The elegant spikes are much larger than the native Wild Lupine and are easier to grow. Growing to be about 12-36” tall, they make a great choice in the garden or landscaping as well as in a meadow or by a pond, lake or river. Extremely easy to grow and deer resistant, this perennial flower blooms year after year and will feature vibrant violet-blue blooms from late spring through summer.
Growing Instructions:
To soften the hard coating on these seeds, rub them lightly with sandpaper or soak them in 180° F water overnight before sowing. Sow them in early spring planting them 1/2" deep. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. In the deep south, sow them in late fall for a winter annual. The seedlings are rather fragile. Water them occasionally and protect them from freezing temperatures. They can tolerate drought once mature, but occasional watering is most beneficial. These plants resent having their roots disturbed.
