We were fortunate to find a beautiful pair of early style (1900) cast iron bracket sconces in outstanding condition for their age. We were able to save and bring the original finish back to life, which is extremely rare as these sconces are typically rusted out and have to be stripped back to bare meta. These retain their original dead black finish—we just cleaned the sconces and applied several coats of wax as a preservative. The casting on these lights is also exception with fine, high detail, which is also unusual as the detail is typically rusted down or the sconces were cast in a very used mold, rendering soft details. As you can see, some of the finish is worn down revealing highlighted detail in all its glory.
