Measures 8-15/32" X 11-17/32", 36 pp plus covers -- b&w photos and illustrations -- Volume XIV, No. 10 (September 1956), published by Charlton Publishing Corp. (CT).

Group 24-3501

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!  Both front & rear covers are detached from each other, as well as from the magazine itself -- otherwise typical POOR condition for a music celebrity magazine of nearly 70 years, with significant wear & chipping to edges & corners, plus creases, scratches, tears, indentations, missing chunks, folds, rub-wear, browning pages, foxing, musty aroma, etc -- overall condition POOR!

For many years, HIT PARADER magazine provided easy access to the lyrics (not music) for popular songs, while also offering minor commentary on performers, radio disc jockeys, and contemporary popular music.  This 1956 issue demonstrates how little effect early "rock 'n' roll" music had upon the music industry at that early stage of teenage popularity, while clearly warning that "rock 'n' roll" performers such as ELVIS PRESLEY, FATS DOMINO, BILL HALEY & THE COMETS, CHUCK BERRY and JERRY LEE LEWIS were not just "a flash in the pan," but a hint of things to come.
