Here are a PAIR of VINTAGE FAUX PEARL NECKLACES from GARVIN'S DEPARTMENT STORE in LANCASTER PA plus a BONUS of TWO Faux Pearl BRACELETS!
First, the Necklaces. BOTH have their original price tags. On one side is printed "Garvin's Dept Store Lancaster PA" and on the other handwritten the price of $2.00.
Garvin's Dept Store was opened in 1884 and grew from that. Uncertain as to the exact year that the store closed but if memory serves it was sometime in the 1980's.
THESE Faux Pearl Necklaces appear to be from about the 1950-1960's.
BOTH of the necklaces have beads that are graduated in size with the larger ones being in the center. BOTH have their strings knotted in between each bead which normally indicates a higher value piece. This would want to indicate that the beads were made of glass but they just do not seem to have the weight or the feel of glass so it is assumed that they are plastic.
One necklace measures 21" and the other 25". The shorter necklace's largest beads are 8mm and the longer measures 10mm. With the two different lengths they can be worn together nicely!
BONUS:
A pair of FAUX PEARL BEADED BRACELET'S GO ALONG!
One glass faux pearl bead necklace with the string knotted in between each bead has a goldtone metal fishhook clasp and measures 7.5" in length. The beads are 6mm.
The other bracelet has plastic faux pearl beads that have dulled with age. It has a goldtone metal spring ring with a goldtone metal HEART CHARM. The string is also knotted in between each bead and the beads are 4mm.
OH SO RETRO! From days gone by- a NAMED DEPTARMENT STORE of QUALITY ITEMS!!
MARKED: Both necklaces have their original price tags from GARVIN'S DEPT STORE in Lancaster PA and are marked at $2.00 each
