Benzacne gel contains the active substance benzoyl peroxide. When applied to the skin, benzoyl peroxide easily penetrates the stratum corneum and inhibits the growth of the anaerobic bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which is one of the causes of acne vulgaris. It also has an exfoliating effect on the epidermis and reduces the number of blackheads.
