The retrieval of the rigged shrimp will be a slow subtle retrieve which will get the attention of a lot of game fish. If you would rather use the unrigged shrimp then your options open up. The unrigged shrimp allows you to use your favorite hook or jig head. An effective way to fish these shrimp is to bite a portion of the tail section off and rig the shrimp with a jig head and fish the shrimp backwards. This allows you to use the natural action of the jigging motion to imitate the natural evading motion of a live shrimp which is a backwards pumping motion. This backward quicker retrieval will get a reactionary strike from game fish because they don't want their food to get away from them. Any way you fish these shrimp, they are deadly on a number of game fish and if you give them a try, you will be amazed at how effective they are.
