"We also Offer Purple Passion Flowers which are just as Gorgeous, and Also Produce a Tasty Passion Fruit."
One of the most popular food plants for butterfly enthusiasts is the passion vine. Not only does it attract butterflies, it also has exotic flowers that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. They made use of almost all the plant parts, including roots, flowers, leaves and fruit.
Vines can reach 30 feet in height and 5 feet in width. Passiflora develops evergreen, glossy, 3-, 7- or 9-lobed leaves. Curled tendrils can be seen at the base of each leaf. Passiflora develops large, showy flowers that can reach 3 to 8 inches in diameter. All share exotic flowers that remain open for only about a day. The flower has a wide, flat petal base with five or 10 petals in a flat or reflex circle. Passionflowers are rapid growers and are best planted in spring or early fall while it's still warm. Where they are hardy, passionflowers are usually trained on a trellis, fence, or other vertical structures—in regions where they are not hardy, passionflower plants are often grown in pots and moved indoors for the winter.
