A Korean friend, Joan, examined this kit and chuckled about it trying to figure out what the purpose was at first, but soon got the hang of it and called it (literally) "picture finding name" (사진 이름 찾기). Once we got started, it was hard to stop and seemed challenging enough to keep anyone wanting to learn Korean occupied. Joan thought many of the pictures/words were ambiguous or had multiple meanings to the extent that she had to think about them, rather than just immediately picking the "correct" answer. Probably a good thing? I did not find much about the company who made this (Froebel Media) but that they are based in Korea and are still in business. The name Froebel is associated most commonly in the West with Friedrich Froebel who apparently was the "father of the kindergarten." Who knew? Anyway, this set is very well made and in as-new condition. The cards are very heavy and will stand up to repeated use.
For children of all ages these two things seem synonymous with Christmas, Birthdays, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Easter, Hanukah, Diwali, Grandparents Arriving for a Visit, Father Returning From a Business Trip, Chinese New Year, Eid al-Fitr, Monito Monita, Advent, and so on and so forth.... Interestingly, most of the shoppers who visit this section are adults looking to find something from their own childhood memory: That certain Tonka truck, or that particular Cootie game, or that special Raggedy Ann or Andy, or even their own personal "Rosebud" (if you know what I mean).... Listings are always changing here as things come and go, so check back occasionally; you might just find what you have forgotten.
