1960's Baby Bottles, NURSMATIC by Hankscraft, Insta-Valve Nurser, Unused 8 Ounce

Here is a nice group of vintage NOS Nursmatic Baby Bottles by Hankscraft of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Circa 1960's. Manufactured during a time when Nursmatic had introduced their "Insta-Valve Nurser" which was designed to limit the flow of milk to prevent colic. Good idea or Meh? All of these bottles came with the Insta-Valve taped inside of the bottle, along with the instruction sheet that was rolled up and inserted into the bottle. (This is how I know these bottles have not been used.) But to say they haven't been used does not necessarily make them pristine or "like new." They had been stored somewhere in an open box and were all pretty dirty on the outside, at least. I did painstakingly pull the valve and instruction sheet out of the bottles and ran everything through the dishwasher.  For the most part they cleaned up well and are very presentable.

I entered College in 1965 and it doesn't get any more "Sixties" than that.  As today is the era of technology and instant connection, the 60's were an era of social consciousness and mind expansion. Interestingly, when asked which era people would like to relive the 60's Summer of Love is the most popular destination. But, it's not coming back, and it doesn't have to, because it already thoroughly informs and drives the culture we live in today! So, just remember the next time you are tempted to say "Okay, Boomer..." to someone who looks old that the 60's were our gift to all you wanna-be hippies and hipsters out there! And, if you'd like some relics and artifacts from that very busy decade you will always find some right here at Portland Pandemonium's The 60's Were Groovy Shop:
