Vintage Nuova CAPODIMONTE Large Flower Italy Porcelain Sculpture Centerpiece Gorgeous and large - Does have several chips on flowers and leaves as is very typical with these pieces. Overall, this is one of the nicest and prettiest, I have seen in any vintage Capodimonte piece I have had (my opinion). Appox 10.5" tall. just over 7" wide at widest point. Makes an amazing statement centerpiece. Gorgeous porcelain flowers and each side has a rose bud. **** Please note there are multiple chips in multiple areas on this piece. The great thing about these pieces is the in real life roses aren't perfect and these look so real for being porcelain. You can enlarge the photos to make sure you see the flawed areas - it is often hard to tell what is supposed to be there and what is a chipped area. There is one petal of a pink flower that is missing the top of the petal (broken off). There is a green dot on one of the flower petals and some green on the underside of a petal and a leaf - these were on them long before I received this so I am unsure if this was on it since purchased, it is the same color as the leaves so I assume it was like this at purchase. I just want to point it out. (I have noticed similar areas on a friends piece too, so this may have been common in painting these intricate pieces). All of the flaws I am mentioning is so you will know what to expect. All that I mention are very typical for these pieces.
This is a piece I had on display table when you would come into my home from the foyer area. So many people who came into the house, complimented me on this piece. We recently moved and I no longer have the space or an area like that to display this amazing piece. This was originally handed down to me and I have owned it for years. I am unsure of the exact age but it is very vintage.
It has the maker mark on bottom - Nuova Capodimonte and has the N with a crown and a standing horse - this all indicates the factory which produced this amazing piece. The N stands for Neapolitan (mark of high quality from Royal Factory in Napes) - Mark of Distinction.
Capodimonte translates to "Top of the Hill". Every Capodimonte piece is all handmade and required hours and hours at the hands of the artist. Remarkable piece. It is quite heavy (weighs 3 1/2 lbs).
I have many years of experience packing and shipping very fragile items and this will be packed heavily protected and with tender care.
Amazing price for this piece! I don't expect it to last long in my store, I saw a comparable piece in our antique mall for $400.
